AutoCAD r14 Configuration Instructions

Print this page

Part I: Setting Up The AutoCAD Environment:

  1. Select the "Preferences" option from the "Tools" pulldown menu.

  2. From the "Preferences" dialog box, add the directory name where you installed the USP CAD Library files during installation, into the "Support File Search Path" folder. In this example, we are using that installation's default directory of "C:\Program Files\USP" but your directory may be different. If this directory already exists from a prior CAD Menu Program installation, skip this step and go on to Step 3. If this directory does not previously exist from a prior installation, go to Step 4.

  3. If the configured directory already existed and you did not need to perform Step 2, select the "Cancel" button. Once this is done, proceed with Step 1 in Part II

  4. If the configured directory was added in Step 2 above, select the "OK" button. Note: You may need to exit and restart AutoCAD for this setting to take effect.

Part II: Compiling and Loading the USP Menu for AutoCAD:

  1. Select the "Customize Menus..." option from the "Tools" pulldown menu.

  2. From here, you will get the "Menu Customization" dialog box like in the image below. If a "USP" entry already exists in the "Menu Groups" list from a prior installation, go on to Step 3. If a "USP" entry does not exist , go to Step 4.

  3. If a "USP" entry already exists, highlight it and select the "Unload" button to remove it.

  4. If there was no prior "USP" entry or you have already removed the prior entry, select the "Browse" button.

  5. From the "Select Menu File" dialog box, you need to change the "Files of type:" dropdown list to "Menu Template (*.mnu)" Now browse to the directory where you installed the USP CAD Library files, select the file "Usp-r14.mnu" and press the "Open" button. Note, your dialog box may look different depending on which operating system you are using.

  6. You are now returned to the "Menu Customization" dialog box. Make sure the "Replace All" toggle is not checked.

  7. From here, press the "Load" button. You may be presented with the following prompt. If so, just press "Yes" and the menu will compile.

  8. Your dialog box should now look like the following. Note the "USP" entry in the Menu Groups" list.

  9. From this same dialog box, go to the "Menu Bar" tab and select the "USP" entry from the "Menu Group" popdown list. Now select the "USP" item in the "Menus:" list and the "HELP" entry from the Menu Bar:" list. Finally, select the "Insert >>" button to add the USP pulldown menu just before the Help pulldown menu.

  10. Your dialog box should now look like the following. You may press the "Close" button to exit the dialog box.

  11. Your AutoCAD Installation is now configured for use with the USP CAD Library. USP product drawings can now be inserted with the "USP" from the pulldown menu located just to the left of the help menu.
